Winter Trips Again















Winter trips have started again so, while we've been doing some climbing, skiing is the preferred option. It certainly beats walking back downhill again.





While I took no pleasure in throwing Riet off his chair, crevasse rescue training is an important part of pre-trip preparation.....

Ammo Col


One of the activites that fit nicely into (extended...) lunch hour is the ski over ammo col. A quick skin up from base to the col (half way up the right side of the pic above),




a ski down through perfect untouched powder or more regularly over rock hard sastrugi

then a quick shimmy back over the sea-ice back to work. At the moment the ice is over half a metre thick which means it's strong enough to land a plane on. In theory......
